One of the most frequent topics we chat about in the (metaphorical) smoke-filled lounge labeled EDITORS ONLY is: "What can we do to reward our subscribers?"
After all, our primary revenue stream is subscriptions, so we owe our loyal supporters. Without them, we wouldn't be able to afford to stay open. We generate about enough to pay our writers, plus a bit toward hosting costs. (Nobody's getting rich here, but that's all right. If we wanted to be wealthy, we'd probably be selling something else. Superconductors, perhaps.)
(Editor's Note: I suggested illegal drugs as a high-profit item we don't sell, but Rod wouldn't hear of it.)
Many of our subscribers are also in our writer's list, so it was kind of a natural thought: Why not use the month of November as a reward? So that's what we're doing.
Through November, we will be approving new stories from our subscribers only. In order to process submissions more efficiently, we'll also be removing the one story at a time limit -- again, for subscribers only. That's right -- if you write for us and also have a subscription, you can submit as many of your stories as you want. All you need to do is make sure you include the email address your subscription is under in the Notes field.
(Editor’s Note: Full disclosure – If you submit forty-seven stories all at once, we may possibly become slightly annoyed with you.)
And for those of you who subscribe but haven't yet submitted a story: Now is your chance! The lines will be shorter, and the editors more willing to work with you.
Finally, the rest of you: if you can't or won't subscribe... no worries. We'll be happy to have your submissions again starting December 1st.
