Change can be good, friends, and I'm not talking nickels and dimes here.
Most of our writers' stories here at Sci-Fi Shorts are kept securely locked behind a paywall. (Makes sense; we want people to subscribe, after all. Otherwise, we can't pay y'all.)
However, we always post some of our best from the archives on the main page, free to access for everyone. They're here to draw in new subscribers, and as examples of what we do for prospective writers. That's why we make sure they're the best of the best.
Today, we've chosen to update our featured stories, increasing the number slightly while we're at it. A bit more variety is always good, plus it gives us the opportunity to set some of our finest talent up on a pedestal where it belongs. Note that the primary metric we used was the opinion of our readers; those Rocket blasts really helped us decide.
Writers: If your story was selected, we want you to know the honor is well-deserved. If we had trophies we'd send you one, but we're a magazine, and magazines have front pages, so we're doing that instead. We encourage you to brag about this on social media, sharing the new links and, ideally, tagging our publication.
If your story wasn't selected, take heart: We'll do this again. Keep writing, keep submitting, and some day you too may be a Featured Writer!
